Ladybug roll & cover addition game

This spring we're doing a lot of ladybug math! I designed this printable addition game with my Five in mind. Printable Addition Game The game board has the numbers 2-12, as these are the numbers you will get when you add two dice together. The most commonly rolled numbers are used the most, with 2 and 12 appearing only once each.  We grabbed a pair of dice and some power magnets so that we could play on a baking ... Read More

Letter L Rhymes & Songs – Little Letter L book (printable)

Today during prayer time my husband asked each of the kids to name something they were thankful for. My Two said, "My letter books!" I started creating these before I began blogging because he wasn't picking up on the letter names.  At first he wasn't interested in the books, but it wasn't long before he was bringing them to me to read. Now he memorizes all the rhymes and songs and carries his box of letter books all ... Read More

Ladybug missing addend flip cards

After several months of blogging, I've finally made something that challenged my Five, who is just finishing kindergarten.  It didn't take too much convincing to get her to try this missing addend activity.  She ended up going through the entire stack of 45!  As I write this she is trying to get her four-year-old brother to do them.  He's resisting.  "Do you want to watch me do them?" Ladybug Missing Addend ... Read More

Ladybug count & clip cards

It's April, and our snow has nearly melted!  So it's time for more spring-themed math. Here are some ladybug count and clip cards: a printable counting activity for preschoolers.  Ladybug Printable Counting Activity for Preschoolers My Two enjoyed doing the cards up through number 6.  (It's hard for him to count larger groups of objects even with help.)  It was good to get some counting practice and number ... Ladybug number recognition activity

(This post contains affiliate links.) Ladybug Number Recognition Activity This ladybug math was a fun way for my kids to practice recognizing numbers and get some fine motor practice at the same time. Do you have any dot stickers?  We buy these at office supply stores, but you can easily get them online. First I got out a page of red dot stickers. Then I got out a black Sharpie and decorated them to look like ... Read More

Alphabet sensory bin for spring

L is for letters, so we kicked off our letter exploration with this alphabet sensory bin. I decided to do color the pasta myself, and this is what I used: That's about 15 bags of tiny alphabet pasta, a little rubbing alcohol, and a fair amount of food coloring.  The pasta was only 33 cents a bag! The funny thing is, if I'd have bought Da Vinci's brand a few aisles over, the pile would have cost me ... Read More

Short a word family mats

One of my favorite things to do as a mom is teach my kids to read.  We start by reading tons of books together, work on phonemic awareness, continue by learning letters and sounds, and then move on to sounding out words. I'm excited to share something I've been working on for some time -- 8 short a word family mats!  I call them "Read 'n Stick" because my kiddo reads the word cards and sticks them to the pictures ... 10 ways to write the alphabet: Letter T

We keep discovering new ways to write the alphabet -- and we love to do a few of our favorites every time too. Here are ten ways to make the letter T! My Four ran outside to get some twigs, and he and his big sister made these. Later I gave two twigs to my Two (almost three), and he was able to turn them into a T without any trouble.  A few months ago he couldn't have done that. You can get these Highway ABC ... Read More
