Books for Letter C

One of my favorite things I do for The Measured Mom is create book lists. My kids are always excited when we go to pick up our stack of reserved books at the library. And I love it when my Six plants herself on the couch between her brothers (ages 3 and 5) so I can have a quiet evening of dinner prep (as long as the baby is napping and my toddler can find something to do...). We love to collect books to read for every letter of the alphabet. Sometimes a particular letter is just plain hard. Other times, we find a collection of books that my kids want to hear again and again. Then they stand on their tiptoes as I drop the books into the library drop box. Seeing a title they plead, "Don't return that one! I love that book!" There are quite a few favorite stories for ... Read More

Teach short a with sensory play!

Teaching short vowel sounds can be tricky -- which is why I decided to teach short a with sensory play.  My toddler could join in the fun, and both my Three and Five were challenged.  A win-win-win!   First, we got out our materials. Dry oats.  I bought these at a low price from our discount grocery store.  (And since I pack them up after we're done for future sensory play, we get a lot of ... Read More
